Eventful - Fashion Design Camp Fashion Show At noon Friday, students of the fashion design camp offered at the Foundation of the Arts held a fashion show to display the work they had spent much time and effort on. Instructors, Navie Scales and Carter Kidd worked with their students on how to bring their designs from the paper to actual outfits working on their design and sewing skills along the way. Kidd and Scales also designed pieces which they used as a teaching tool for students. Those were displayed in the show as well. The challenge was to create pieces using newspaper and magazines, but the rest was left to the designers. The students definitely had the creativity to make some amazing pieces and proud parents and siblings filled the audience to see the hard work their children did all week. The pieces were judged and the winner, Ariana Brown, received a certificate for a free class of her choice for the fall season at the Foundation of the Arts for her work repurposing items she already had and incorporating newspaper accents to her piece. Second runner up, Kate Huss, designed a sixties inspired red dress with accessories to match and first runner up, Ashley Shulze, took inspiration from Betsy Johnson to create an full length Rock Magazine gown.
