Sexual Assault Report Under Investigation

Officers at Arkansas State University's police department
continue to investigate reports of an alleged sexual assault on campus
during the early Monday morning hours. University officials say there is
"absolutely no connection" to similar occurrences earlier this year.
"

There is no indication that there is a connection between this
particular incident and the others," said Randy Martin, interim chief of
the University Police Department (UPD). "The victim in this incident
gave us information about the suspect, and we located him. After meeting
with the prosecuting attorney and conducting interviews, we are not able
to make an arrest at this time."
Martin also said that he and his department are continuing the
investigation and conducting interviews.

At approximately 2:10 a.m. on Monday, July 26, a sexual assault
was reported to the ASU police. The incident occurred at a residence in
the North Park Quad area on the northeast side of campus. Alerts were
issued through the campus emergency alert system, including an alert
describing the suspect as "a blonde white male" who had been located by
University Police.
University Police encourages campus constituents to remain alert
to their surroundings and ask that anyone with information regarding
this incident, report to UPD immediately at 870-972-209
