The Cardiologist's Wife's Rosemary Chicken Wings me Sometimes I just have to share a recipe, even if it’s not a particularly healthy one. I like to cook, my family likes good food and we do splurge once in awhile. I want people to know we don’t eat boring, bland food. Plus, I feel if people try to cook more and become more comfortable in the kitchen, they are more likely to eat healthier meals overall than if they rely on fast food or prepared foods all the time. There are several things I am not good at cooking or baking - homemade bread, any kind of beef, grilling anything but hotdogs for example. I had been searching for an easy way to prepare the ever popular chicken wings. Let me state that I am not a huge wings fan. I’ve never set foot in a Wings To Go and I sincerely doubt I’ll ever darken the doors of Buffalo Wild Wings. Just not my thing. But one time someone brought some chicken wings to my house that they had grilled at home and we gobbled those wings down like we were starving. They were awesome. That started my quest for a good wings recipe. When asked, the person who prepared the delicious wings just gave a vague response with nothing concrete to go on. So I tried a couple of different recipes I found online but they fell far short. I hadn’t thought about my wings quest in some time when I recently stumbled across a recipe in the August/September issue of Allrecipes. It claimed to be foolproof so that caught my attention right away. This past weekend, I gave them a try and my family gave them a wholehearted thumbs up! We are right in the middle of summer and we all want easy to prepare, delicious food for those back yard parties and cookouts. This recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser for your family so give them a try this weekend. Because they are so high in calories and fat, serve them with something healthier like ice cold watermelon, corn on the cob or garlic green beans. Rosemary Chicken Wings INGREDIENTS: DIRECTIONS: Heat oven to 350. Place all ingredients in a large bowl and toss till wings are well coated. Line two large baking sheets with foil and arrange wings in a single layer. Bake 20 minutes, turn over and bake an additional 15 minutes or until juices run clear. Remove from oven and turn on broiler. Broil one pan at a time for 4 minutes or until lightly browned. I think I will have my husband slap these on the grill next time, to keep the heat out of the house and give them a bit of smoky flavor. Two wings have 233 calories and 18 grams of fat, so limit yourself. [+] add comment |
