Help the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society The Northeast Arkansas Humane Society needs your help. The animal shelter was broken into last week; thieves damaged the building and took an enormous amount of food, supplies, pet carriers and its washer and dryer, totalling several thousand dollars in theft. Although none of the animals were taken or harmed, the NEAHS is in dire need of replacement supplies. Immediate needs for supplies at this time are: Science Diet puppy food (small bites), any other brands of dog & cat food for the pet food pantry, paper towels, Fresh Step scoopable kitty litter, bleach, Clorox or Lysol bleach wipes, Dawn dishwashing soap, garbage bags, newspapers, large pet crates and kennels, collars and leashes. (No animal toys please.) Many of these items were stolen during the break-in. NEAHS is a 501(c)(3), so all contributions are tax-deductible. It receives no assistance other than donations and money raised at fundraisers. They save the lives of countless animals each year with no government-funding. Donations may be dropped off at the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society (6111 E. Highland Drive), at Vetcare (619 W. Parker Road) or at First United Methodist Church (attn: Shannon May). Tax-deductible monetary contributions can also be mailed to NEAHS, PO Box 1042, Jonesboro, AR 72403. Event Spotlight: To help the NEAHS raise money and supplies to recuperate after the recent theft, Mysafe Place Place Tornado Shelters, located at 4014-C Southwest Drive, is holding a Donation Drive on Feb. 1, starting at 10 a.m. Volunteers are still needed.
