Little Hands: Orange Dreamsicle Shake We're halfway through May, finally into some warm weather, and also, on into my third trimester. I went a bit crazy cleaning and organizing the last few months, because I knew from experience that that second trimester energy wouldn't last forever. Now, at 31 weeks, I'm lucky to find the energy to do anything productive or fun with the house or my girls. Fortunately, I gathered several ideas and recipes of things that wouldn't take too much energy over the last few months and tucked them away for later. Some of those recipes were for lots of fun summer drinks to make for afternoons outside playing. I shared one of our favorite from that list in the May issue of Occasions! It's the recipe for a healthier version of a shake that tastes SO much like those yummy orange dreamsicle ice creams I love so much. I found several recipes online for something similar and tweaked this one until I settled on these amounts. It contains only 1 tablespoon of sugar, which I like, but I've also made it substituting the sugar for honey and my girls still loved it! Orange Dreamsicle Shake INGREDIENTS: *2 cups coconut milk *1/4 cup milk *1/4 cup orange juice *1 1/2 teaspoon orange extract *1 tablespoon sugar DIRECTIONS: Freeze coconut milk in shallow dish. Thaw long enough and break up so your blender can handle it. Add all ingredients into blender and mix! Until next time, Heather [+] add comment |
