Jonesboro Pool Center Opens The Jonesboro Pool Center officially opened this morning following the first official dive by members of the Jonesboro Jets Aquatic Club. Located at 1421 W. Nettleton Ave., the Jonesboro Pool Center was formerly the Jonesboro YMCA Aquatic Center. The Jonesboro City Council approved the purchase of the property from the YMCA in April at a cost of $475,000. The purchase included the pool, building and 5.03 acres behind the building. Mayor Harold Perrin said the purchase and improvements to the former YMCA pool were a good investment for the city, especially with the closing of the city pool at the Earl Bell Center. Both Perrin and Jonesboro JETS Coach Jon Williford addressed the crowd before members of the Jets swim team took the first official plunge into the water shortly before noon. Following the renovations, the facility will once again serve as the home pool for the Jets, which will host their first home meet of the season at the Jonesboro Pool Center Saturday. The pool will be open daily from 1 to 6 p.m. Admission is $2 for ages 16 and under and $3 for ages 17 and above. For more information, call the Jonesboro Pool Center at 933.4606. [+] add comment
