I'm going to make a confession here today: I dislike taking my kids to the park. What?! Yes, it's true. Not because our park isn't completely awesome, because it is. I mean, with the little water park area, playgrounds, paths, ducks to feed, and the Nature Center, Craighead Park leaves out little more we could want. However, during the summer months, everyone else in Jonesboro seems to agree with me.

The park fills up with people and kids out enjoying the day. It wouldn't normally bother me, but with mine so young, I have to be walking along pretty closely to them to make sure no one falls off some of the equipment or wonders off into the crowd of energetic kids. However, I'm going to let you in on a secret. Joe Mack Campbell Park.

Most people know about the park and go regularly for games, but we easily forget it for somewhere to let kids run crazy and play on really great playground equipment. It's so easily forgotten, in fact, that it's very often completely empty, especially during morning hours.

There it is. The secret to picnic and playgrounds without a huge crowd. So, the next time your kids want to get out of the house, and you are tempted to waylay their plans because of too many people, head to Dan Avenue. Soccer fields, play ground, restroom facilities, and picnic tables will greet you. Who knows, I may see a whole group of you all there now :).
