Little Hands Get Ready for the Holidays The holidays are coming upon us quickly, now that we're into November. Did you know this weekend is A Little Bit of Christmas craft show at ASU's Convocation Center?! That's a tradition that officially marks the beginning of our holiday season in this family. With our family still so young, we've been building traditions as we go. I'm a huge fan of traditions, so I try to make even tiny things special. Each Christmas, we hang a paper chain through the hallway. It's an easy way to add fun and color, but it's also something that the girls can help make. This year, we started the chain early by adding messages on each leading up to Thanksgiving. I cut construction paper into five strips lengthwise, and keep them on top of the microwave with a permanent marker, making it easy to see and add each day. Story needs some help, obviously, but luckily she makes it easy to see the things she's thankful for, such as food, affection, a stuffed bunny, and whatnot. Lance and I write our own, and I really love seeing what he writes each day and look forward to it. London's links are my favorite so far. We write down whatever she says, and sometimes, they are things like picking flowers, looking at leaves, finding stars, which are seriously beautiful things for a two year old to say. Other times, they're things like "being two years old" and PINK!!! I just love that we have something each day reminding us to be thankful leading up to Thanksgiving, and the girls get excited about the pretty colors in the hallway growing each day. I'm excited as the holidays come to share more traditions we've inherited from our families, or are making up as we go.
Until next time,
