To those who have seen Jonesboro and the surrounding area continue to grow and thrive in recent years, it should come as no surprise that Craighead County recently received some national recognition for having the potential to become the next Silicon Valley.

According to Zac Northup of BusinessInsider.com, Craighead County is listed as the number one place in the entire country that is most likely to be the “Next Silicon Valley.” The United States Census Bureau found that small towns , small cities and counties with 10,000 to 50,000 residents are considered the “micropolitan statistical areas.” Craighead County, along with Saline County, Ark. and 18 other cities and counties has been dubbed as meeting the following criteria: a high level of broadband accessibility, a sizable workforce (in relative terms), a vibrant local economy and the presence of a small college or university.
