News Taffy

Reef Escapes has been collaborating one of our local schools here in Jonesboro.  The objectives of our project include the design and installation of a 180 gallon coral reef aquarium and the establishment of a Jr. Aquarist club.  The goal is to use a nontraditional approach to educate our youth on the value and satisfaction that can come from the field of science while providing the school with a beautiful, living, coral reef display. 

This aquarium is to be developed by the students working closely with the owner of Reef Escapes, Chuck Vaughan, as part of his Masters degree.  We believe that aquariums can be a extremely valuable and educational tool.  Students will help with the maintenance and care of the the ecosystem while learning the science behind replicating the ocean.  Students will hand feed living corals and fish, monitor the water chemistry, log and interpret the data gathered all while utilizing the aquarium as a research tool.
