February isn't exactly known for its balmy, pool-worthy weather, so when the participants of the 2011 Polar Plunge hop into the Elk's Lodge pool on the 26th, it won't be because they need to cool off. Rather, they'll be jumping into the wintery waters to raise money for local Special Olympic athletes.

The Plunge, which will begin at 1 p.m. (registration starts at noon), is said to be not just an event, but an experience. The Jonesboro.com and Jonesboro Occasions team has decided to get involved with the event, and if you'd like to donate on behalf of our team, please head HERE. (You'll have to come to the event if you want to know what our costumes are.)

If you'd rather not take the plunge yourself, you can still get involved. The Post-Plunge Party will feature a Chili Cook-Off, and there are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
