Medic One Celebrates 10 Years of Service
Medic One officially began their 10th year of service on January 1st; an exciting accomplishment for a company that began quite small. In January 2001 the company began with 2 counties of service and twenty-four employees, today Medic One serves 5 counties within Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri and employees over 100 people. The business came to be when owners Ryan Kibler, George Stem, and Sean Stem recognized a great need for additional pre-hospital care for the citizens in this area. Medic One was truly built from scratch and continues to grow in great stride.
It is apparent when you walk through the door at Medic One that there is far more to this business than just ambulatory care. The education department is a great place to start, not only is Medic One an official training center for the American Heart Association but it also has training sites throughout Northeast and Southeast Arkansas. This past year the education department and affiliated instructors have trained 3,013 students in American Heart Association courses and an additional 1,241 students have been trained in other healthcare related courses. Having an education department available to the employees saves them the added expense of locating continuing education classes. Another exciting area at Medic One is their community service area; the company is truly involved in everything possible in the communities they serve. Medic One attends fall festivals, school, church functions, and health fairs; giving back to the communities is not an option for Medic One, it is a requirement.
Over the years the company has added many advances in patient care technology to their fleet of ambulances, these include the AutoPulse cardiac support pump. Medic One EMT's and Paramedics have saved hundreds of lives that otherwise would not have been saved by utilizing the Zoll AutoPulse device and is one of a very limited number of EMS agencies throughout the United States that have this capability. The AutoPulse has allowed Medic One to resuscitate over 40 persons per year for the past 5 years. EZ-IO has also been a great addition to the equipment that Medic One provides; the vascular access system allows Paramedics to safely gain immediate IV access inside the bone when typical IV access is unobtainable.
With the use of CPAP, Medic One paramedics have prevented respiratory arrest and death in an untold number of patients when they were experiencing severe breathing difficulty associated with several types of respiratory conditions. Medic One was also one of the first ground ambulance providers in the country to utilize Power Infuser technology. This device allows for a rapid replacement of IV fluids in life-threatening situations and is the same technology utilized by our military combat and aeromedical transportation services.
Company President, Ryan Kibler, stated “We hope that Medic One will be known as not only an ambulance service but a complete EMS network that provides education, promotes community involvement, and cares greatly about patient care and employee satisfaction.” In 2011 the company has plans to promote their 10 year anniversary through various events and community involvement activities. Medic One operates in Craighead, Poinsett, Lawrence and Randolph counties in Arkansas, and Dunklin County Missouri. The company offers emergency and non-emergency ambulance service, wheelchair van transportation and educational services. Medic One has been in operation in Dunklin county since 2006, they have 4 ambulance base locations throughout the county and operate 24 hours a day. [+] add comment |
