 March of Dime's Signature Chefs Auction Join the March of Dimes as they help the cause of reducing premature births. Did you know that premature birth is the number one killer of newborns? Did you know that one out of eight babies is born prematurely? In half of the cases, we don’t know why it happens. Did you know that in an average week in Arkansas 788 babies are born, 108 babies are born prematurely, and 6 babies will die before reaching their first birthday?The March of Dimes has a track record of success that spans more than 7 decades, including 13 Nobel Prize winning researchers, conquering polio and fighting birth defects, premature birth and other health challenges affecting moms and babies. The March of Dimes needs your help to give all babies a chance for a healthy start in life. Here are just a few of the ways your support can make a difference: -Research into why premature birth happens and how it can be prevented -Education to help women have healthy pregnancies and recognize the signs of preterm labor -Information and comfort for families of babies in neonatal intensive care -Help for pregnant women with questions and concerns about pregnancy -Research into genetic birth defects -Increased access to prenatal care -Surfactant therapy (a life-saving drug administered to the underdeveloped lungs of premature babies).
