Schoolyard Habitat Workshop for Educators
Thursday, October 3, 2013 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Forrest L. Wood Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center, 600 E. Lawson Road, Jonesboro
Learn to take your students outdoors to explore and develop habitat for wildlife on your school grounds! Attend a WILD Schoolyard Habitat workshop to obtain six hours ADE approved professional development, a "How-to" guide for developing wildlife habitat on school grounds, and a CD full of activities and ideas for use with students in the outdoor classroom.
Come prepared for a day of hands-on fun!
Participants will receive an Arkansas Schoolyard Habitat Guide and a variety of resources/materials to enhance outdoor learning. Topics include:
- Creating habitat to attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife
- Water features and simple ways to construct them
- Garden “make-n-takes”
- Design ideas
- Interdisciplinary lesson ideas
- How to involve parents
Funding is out there! You must attend a Schoolyard Habitat workshop to be eligible to apply for this year’s grant. Applications must be postmarked by December 1, 2013.
This workshop is FREE, but registration is required.
