Event Time*: | 1:00 - 3:00 pm |
Event Location*: | ASU Wilson Hall Auditorium |
Other Information: | In July 1945, during the closing days of WWII, Japanese-American internees at the Rohwer relocation camp held an art exhibit featuring the work of camp residents. A photographer was invited to the event and approximately 200 black-and-white photographs were taken of camp life and artists at work. Only a few of these have ever been seen by the public. On March 6th from 1:00-3:00 PM at ASU’s Wilson Auditorium, Professor Sarah Wilkerson Freeman and History Department graduate and undergraduate students will host a presentation and exhibit of the never-before-published photographs and discuss their research on families affected by the forced incarceration and relocation program. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call (901) 240-3961 or e-mail sarahwf@astate.edu. |
