"To Empower and Enhance the Lives of the Developmentally Disabled and Their Families by Providing Quality Services and Advocacy."
Our Programs & Services
Preschool Program
The Learning Center’s preschool program serves children from birth to five years of age with developmental delays.
Qualified staff members provide the preschooler with an opportunity to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
Professional staff members realize that these capabilities must be developed if each preschooler is to realize his right to personal satisfaction and fulfillment. Speech, occupational and physical therapy are also available to children that need these services. The goal of the preschool is to help each child reach his/her maximum potential in their personal development.
Adult Services
The Learning Center also offers developmental services for adults with disabilities. A primary goal of this program is to teach these adults functional life skills needed for personal independence in caring for themselves and their environment and in accessing the community. These skills include: cooking, laundering, personal care, socialization, leisure activities, and a general knowledge of how to communicate their needs and wants. Community based integration is another vital part of these services. The knowledge of each individual’s personal environment and how to participate and interact within that environment is a primary goal of this program.
Home-Based Early Intervention
Early intervention services for developmentally delayed infants and toddlers from birth to 3 years can be provided in the child’s home or in the early intervention child care setting.
The child is assessed by a team of professionals in the areas of cognitive, social development, communication, self-help and fine and gross motor development.
Goals are identified that emphasize areas of delay as well as strengthening parent-child relationships. The goals addressed become the guide by which services to the child and family are provided.
